History
Founded in 1958 by William J. Boykin and headquartered in
Cleveland, Ohio, Boykin Management Company is a nationally-recognized, privately-held
professional hotel management company, specializing in
first-class, full-service, limited-service, resort, and
condominium hotels. Boykin Management Company operates in
7 states, with a current portfolio consisting of 12 hotels and
resorts containing 2,395 rooms and suites. Several of our
properties operate as independents. As one of the oldest
management companies serving owners, Boykin has built a
leadership reputation in the hotel industry with a solid
foundation of experience in hotel operation, management, and
development.
Our first management venture started with a Howard Johnson’s
Motor Lodge in South Bend, Indiana, which led to the company’s
developing and operating other Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodges in
Illinois, Texas, and Pennsylvania. These properties were
sold at a substantial profit in the early 60’s. In 1968,
Marriott Corporation appointed Boykin Management Company as one
of their first franchisees, which stimulated the company's
growth alongside one of the nation's fastest growing hotel
chains. The company expanded with Marriott throughout the
70's and 80's. Entering into the 1990’s the Company
expanded its relationships with other leading hotel brands and
today Boykin Management Company operates hotels under the
Marriott, Hilton, Doubletree, and Hampton Inns brands.
Boykin Management Company has developed an expertise in
operating unique, independent properties.
In 1985, Robert Boykin, as President of Boykin Management,
along with his brother John (Jack) Boykin, who is Corporate
Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage assumed leadership roles of steering the
company’s growth as an innovative leader in providing high
value management services to owners. Over the years,
the company has made significant investments in its operating
and financial systems, and continues to attract, motivate, and
retain highly experienced employees, strengthening the operating
platform and service level that we offer to our client owners.
Over the years, Boykin Management Company has served pension
funds, insurance companies, commercial banks, individual
investors, and partnerships in the management of their hotel
assets. Throughout all levels of the Boykin Management
Company
organization, it is our philosophy and commitment to provide
each owner with the attention and individual service required to
reach their objectives and to deliver profits and value creation
